Summer travel: ferry, marina, and heat safety for pets

Ferries, boat trips, and marina walks are common in Bodrum summers. If your pet joins you, safety, heat, and stress management come first — this guide is about preparation, not alarm.

Ferries and long drives: Use a secure carrier or car restraint. At stops: leash, water, and shade. Never leave a pet in a closed, sunny car — even minutes matter.

Marinas and crowds: Slippery decks, engine noise, and unfamiliar dogs can stress pets. Short leash, ID (microchip / tag), and a calm exit plan help. Build up to busy places gradually.

Heat: Keep water available; test pavement with your hand. Brachycephalic breeds, seniors, and thick coats are more vulnerable. Walk early or late, not at midday.
