In short
Fleas can breed indoors; one bath is not enough. Remove ticks whole — no oil, flame or crushing.

Ticks
Grip close to the skin and pull slowly. If mouthparts remain, do not dig — show the clinic. Fever, lameness or sudden lethargy afterwards should not wait.
